A Covert Medical Mission is a powerful documentary that follows desperate parents across the United States who are fighting to help their extremely ill children with medical cannabis, despite federal law still classifying marijuana as illegal.

These families confront a broken system where state-by-state marijuana legislation does not fully protect their children’s access to the medicine they believe provides relief, forcing them to obtain and use cannabis outside the law to ease suffering and improve quality of life.

The film focuses on the personal and legal risks these parents face — including the possibility of 10 years to life in prison or even losing custody of their children — simply for seeking treatment that conventional medicine has failed to provide.

Through intimate stories of families like the Zartlers, the documentary exposes a clandestine network of parents who must navigate a confusing mix of local legalization and federal prohibition, often smuggling cannabis across state lines, hiding treatments from doctors or authorities, and risking everything for their children’s health. Their goal in going public with their stories: to push for national legislative change that would protect medical cannabis use for pediatric care.
